It took a while, with a 5 hour layover in Dallas, but we are here in a cute (gezellig) little hotel called Casa Gonzales in Mexico City. We were a little leery abut this trip, warnings of little oxygen because of the altitude (it is a mile high) and the worst pollution in the world, together with one of the highest crime rates. The last leg of our flight was incredible, flying over a dense city (night, with lights) for about for 20 minutes and seeing nothing but city for the whole time.....it is HUGE.
We haven´t noticed the lack of oxygen, though our throats are a little scratchy because of the air quality. But we had a sound sleep...it was so much quieter than Brooklyn...havén´t heard a siren yet!  We have visited a nice museum, an old castle on a hill with views of the city (in case anyone thinks we only shop!). We´ve made some new friends from Germany...a retired couple who know everything about everything because they come back here for 2 months every year. I can imagine coming back to Mexico. It is so different...love the food...love the colours...people are very friendly (not like New Yorkers at all!)
Well that´s it so far, doesn´t seem dangerous, but we are staying in the tourist areas so what can we really say. and there are no dogs or cats??? not sure what that means.
more tomorrow
love, Narda and Terrell
